Periodontal Disease

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal Disease is an infection of the tissue and bone that supports your teeth. It is also called Gum Disease. When your gums are healthy, your tissue hugs on to your teeth. When you have gum disease, the tissue pulls away from your teeth. This may lead to bone loss and structure, causing  your teeth to become loose, which can lead to the teeth needing to be extracted.

You may have periodontal disease if:
- Your gums are red, tender, or swollen
- Bleeding gums
- Excessive tartar buildup where the gum and teeth meet
- Bad breath that will not go away
- Feeling that your teeth are loose
